*Kan-naw`*
-Eddy Joel Silsbee
Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ who sympathizes for us always.
We are looking at the names being called by the Character of God.
*Note*: These are not names of God - rather these are words that refer to His character.
Today we look at the word *Kan-naw’* (Variant Spelling Qannah)
Meaning : Jealous / Zealous
In the Old Testament Kan-naw occurs 6 times. Kan-naw is first used in Exo. 20:5.
Other Scripture References : Exo. 34:14, Deut 4:24, 5:9, 6:15
Qanna is translated as "jealous," "zealous," or "envy."
The fundamental meaning relates to a marriage relationship.
God is depicted as Israel's husband; He is a jealous God, wanting all our praise for Himself and no one else. (Exo. 34:14)
If his wife praises other men without praising her husband or clings to him, will this husband simply let her go?
For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts. Pro. 6:34-35
Adore not any strange god. The Lord his name is jealous, he is a jealous God. Exo. 34:14
Would He simply stand idly by if anyone bow his head in front of a man-made image and a man-made idol, leaving the God of creation behind?
He never tolerates if you spare anything which you suppose to give Him. Whether time or honour or Love. He is a Jealous God!
Hope you remember the verse “with your FULL heart, with your FULL soul now?
