Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus
Christ.
Why should people come together to worship
God on Sunday, the first day of the week while we read at Acts 2:46 that
everyday they gathered? Is it not ok if we gather on other days?
Note that there are two locations mentioned
in verse 2:46.
One – Temple & the second – Houses !!
Saved Christian Jews gathered at the
Jerusalem temple during their usual meditation. Nevertheless, they shared a
meal together in their homes. Deut 12: 7, 12, 16:11.
The verse does not say that they were *worshipping
everyday by breaking bread*
Instead - They *took their food with joy
and with true hearts*.
Not on the Sabbath day but they gathered
on First day of the week (Sunday), specifically
to worship God.
Why was Sunday important to Christians?
1-The Day of Jesus Christ's Resurrection
Mark 16: 9
2- The day Jesus met the disciples six times
before the Ascension. Mark 16: 9; Matthew 28: 5-9; Luke 24:34; 24: 13-15;
33,36, John 20:19; 26
3- Between Jesus 'death at the cross and
the day of Jesus' Ascension – Disciples gathered. Jn 20:19, 26, Acts 2:1
4- Church Established. Acts 2:1
5- The day the Holy Spirit was given
exclusively to the Apostles. Acts 2:1-4
6-The day of the gathering to break Bread was
on Sunday Acts 20: 7
7- The day of gathering for offering. 1
Corinthians 16: 1-3
** The new covenant began instead of
Sabbath day since Christ put an end to the Law given through Moses at the crucifixion.
Rom 10: 4, 1 Cor 11:25
** While Christians praise and meditate showing
their unity on other days - Christians should come together to worship God on
Sundays, the first day of the week, according to the apostle's teaching.
