*Jehovah Ra-aw*
-Eddy Joel Silsbee
Greetings to you in the name of our Shepherd Jesus Christ.
We are looking at the names being called by the Character of God.
*Note*: These are not names of God - rather these are words that refer to His character.
Today we look at the word *Jehovah Raaw’*
Also spells as : Jehovah Rohi / Jehovah Ro’eh
Meaning : The Lord is my Shepherd
In the Old Testament Jehovah-Raah (The Lord my Shepherd) is used in Psalm 23.
Variant spellings: Jehovah Rohi; Jehovah Ro'eh
Jehovah is translated as "The Existing One" or "Lord." The chief meaning of Jehovah is derived from the Hebrew word Havah meaning "to be" or "to exist." It also suggests "to become" or specifically "to become known" - this denotes a God who reveals Himself unceasingly.
Rô'eh from which Raah derived, means "shepherd" in Hebrew.
A shepherd is one who feeds or leads his flock to pasture (Eze 34:11-15).
An extend translation of this word, rea', is "friend" or "companion."
This indicates the intimacy God desires between Himself and His people. When the two words are combined - Jehovah Raah - it can be translated as "The Lord my Friend."
This Hebrew word does not appear as it is in English Bible but with its translated meaning.
Bible References : Psalm 23; 80:1; 95:7; Isaiah 40:11; Jeremiah 31:10; Ezekiel 34:12; 23; Matthew 25:32; John 10:11-27; Hebrews 13:20-21; 1 Peter 2:25; 5:4
Be in HIS flock to be fed and managed at the right time. The Lord is our Shepherd. (Ps 23)
